Protecting existing systems

Infrastructure cybersecurity and operational security

Security starts with operational risks and working safeguards. A firewall or SIEM may help, but neither replaces security governance.

Networks that have evolved over time, unreviewed privileged access, exposed services, fragmented logs and responsibilities split across suppliers make security difficult to assess. Braintec examines the operating environment rather than assuming it must be replaced.

Operational contexts

  • You need to review Linux servers, exposed services, VPNs or remote access.
  • Multiple sites, VLANs, cloud environments or suppliers make trust boundaries unclear.
  • You need to prioritise controls before investing in new platforms.

Technical activities

  • Map critical assets, architectures, flows and exposure points.
  • Review segmentation, firewall rules, identity, privileges, hardening and configurations.
  • Assess logging, monitoring, backup and continuity arrangements.
  • Identify findings, dependencies and prioritised work with acceptance criteria.

Outputs and documentation

We agree the scope before work begins. An assessment may produce a set of technical findings, priorities and a remediation plan. Implementation, when necessary, is scoped separately.

Delivery approach

We start from live systems. Technical safeguards are linked to process ownership and risk management, preserving continuity and compatibility with existing suppliers.

Next steps

An initial discussion establishes the environment, objectives, constraints and scope of any proposed engagement.
